Relying on alcohol, illicit substances and/or addictive processes (think food, gaming, gambling, sex, shopping etc.) in an attempt to regulate your mood or nervous system, can result in a loss of self, as well as, your connections with the people in your life. Escaping your feelings through external means can only lead to continued isolation and ongoing internal struggles. Whether you are looking to abstain or practicing harm reduction, I am happy to meet you where you are at and help you achieve a more manageable daily life experience without judgment.
Anxiety and depression are some of the most common and uncomfortable states of being that we can experience in our lives. Learning to identify and increase your awareness of how these symptoms present for you will allow you to recognize areas for intervention. Once you become more aware of your “Stuck points,” you will garner more understanding and acceptance of any influential parts, which will elicit more agency over your life experiences. Through counseling and treatment, we will be able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and the joy that you once had in your life in both new and previously lost ways.
Many individuals can experience acute and/or chronic symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Whether you identify with big-T or small-t traumatic events, you may experience a set of reactions that are seemingly outside your control. These may include anxiety, fear, anger, isolation and hopelessness which can linger long after the traumatic events occurred. You can learn to overcome these symptoms with clinical guidance through the process of healing. Long term developmental trauma work takes time. In addition, referrals to supportive therapeutic modalities and alternative resources may be necessary to achieve a reduction in symptoms and a more balanced daily experience.
Licensed professionals and corporate executives inherently have higher levels of responsibility, oversight, and accountability resulting in the increase of internal and external stressors that become increasingly difficult to manage over time. Learning to navigate your field with integrity, and intention, can be challenging; regardless of the stage of your career. Having supported countless physicians, attorneys, nurses, clinicians, CEOs, CFOs and others, has allowed me to truly understand the unique set of needs these roles demand. Many professionals suffer unforeseen personal sacrifices as a result of these positions, which often goes unspoken, misunderstood, overlooked or resented.
In addition to my psychotherapeutic focus, I have found that monitoring people in their early sobriety can provide both meaningful accountability and positive support. As such, I am delighted to be able to assist individuals with their ongoing abstinence based monitoring needs related for one's peace of mind, to satisfy conditions of the court and to demonstrate healthy behavior over time in an unbiased and compassionate way. We will identify your daily commitment, create your contingency plans together and review the necessary documentation and provide any appropriate correspondence needed for your ongoing goals.
